I’m trying to remember what I did with my evenings before Tumblr. It must have been boring & awful - like cleaning my house or socializing.

While speaking at an event at Pratt Institute Tuesday evening, Spike Lee slammed an audience member’s question about the “other side of gentrification” with a powerful 7-minute response.
"Let me just kill you right now," Lee intervened. He then specifically pointed to a recent article in the New York Times titled "Argument Over A Brownstone Neighborhood," which the legendary director criticized as "bullshit."
What proceeded was an incredibly forceful defense of Lee’s home borough of Brooklyn and complete denunciation against the notion gentrification can bring about positive changes to a neighborhood’s original residents. A few excerpts below:
Here’s the thing: I grew up here in Fort Greene. I grew up here in New York. It’s changed. And why does it take an influx of white New Yorkers in the south Bronx, in Harlem, in Bed Stuy, in Crown Heights for the facilities to get better? The garbage wasn’t picked up every motherfuckin’ day when I was living in 165 Washington Park. P.S. 20 was not good. P.S. 11. Rothschild 294. The police weren’t around. When you see white mothers pushing their babies in strollers, three o’clock in the morning on 125th Street, that must tell you something.
Have you seen Fort Greene Park in the morning. It’s like the motherf—-ing Westminster Dog Show. There’s 20,000 dogs running around.
…I mean, they just move in the neighborhood. You just can’t come in the neighborhood. I’m for democracy and letting everybody live but you gotta have some respect. You can’t just come in when people have a culture that’s been laid down for generations and you come in and now shit gotta change because you’re here? Get the fuck outta here. Can’t do that!
Head to New York Magazine for the complete transcript.
While the debate over gentrification may be nothing new, Lee’s defense is particularly stunning because of its deeply personal point of view. It’s also backed with statistics. According to a report conducted by the Thomas B. Fordham Institute’s Michael Petrilli, Brooklyn is home to four of the 25 fastest gentrifying zipcodes in the entire country.
Fort Greene specifically, where Lee grew up and where his office is located, has seen a staggering 29.6 percent change in white population from 2000 to 2010.
Real estate developers have even begun encroaching upon Brownsville, one of the most crime-ridden neighborhoods in New York City.
The director also railed against the intense competition parents take on in order to secure their children’s place in some of the city’s most elite private schools — schools that are currently struggling to forge a Brooklyn identity while somehow avoiding the path to become the blatantly well-to-do schools Lee referenced.
Brooklyn’s overwhelming influx of young, affluent residents over the years has indeed put pressure on the borough’s public schools to improve standards and provide alternatives. But Lee says it’s precisely that impetus that has been flawed.
"So, why did it take this great influx of white people to get the schools better? Why’s there more police protection in Bed Stuy and Harlem now? Why’s the garbage getting picked up more regularly? We been here!"

"Bolt-hole (noun): a safe or restful place; a place where you can hide or escape from something that is dangerous or unpleasant."
I want to talk about this, so let’s. At first glance it seemed just your regular fan serving, fan-teasing trolling thing that Moffat does to tell us, yes I read your fanfiction. Have some more details that please you but will not affect the plot and won’t be leading anywhere. And it also seems that Molly was back to being the girl with the crush who takes advantage of her, which she allows. Might be why she is uncomfortable and a bit embarrassed in that scene.
Yes, that may well be the case. To which I say, You don’t do that. You don’t just imply that Sherlock casually stays at Molly’s, in her bedroom no less. That is just too intimate a detail I think, and it does affect the plot and characters. Yes Mr. Moffat it will. Especially since this might have happened while Sherlock was faking his death (unlikely, Sherlock himself said he was unfamiliar with London implying he was away for the whole two years), while she was with Tom (that would explain the breakup, unlikely it was after Tom because it seemed he had only known the engagement was over when he noted she didn’t have the ring anymore), and/or while he was with Janine (it was pretty much implied in their scene that he avoided sex with her). I think it would be the latter two. There is a very good possibility that their initial unspoken rule of staying away from each other in TEH lasted only until the end of TSOT. And given that their mutual decision was loaded with tension and emotions and they allowed themselves to be together like that. I am not implying they had sex or even kissed. For all we know Sherlock just came marching into her flat, demanding he needed to think and charmed her into letting him borrow her bedroom while she uses the spare one, and then he leaves without as much as a goodbye when the case calls him. And so Molly is left both guilty and embarrassed when she was asked about it. Because in her point of view, it will always be unrequited, embarrassingly so.
It was needless to say entirely different in Sherlock’s point of view. We saw his mind palace. We saw what she made him do in his mind, in the brink of death. We saw how exactly he sees her. And that had conveniently given me some ideas. And now I will try to be as logical as possible. Really.
Of all of Sherlock’s known boltholes, even counting the Big Ben one, there’s only one that sticks out like a sore thumb. What makes Molly’s place special? He could have secluded places and nice views, and he has. He could have larger bedrooms and spacier locations and he could isolate himself all he wants. The answer is easy. It’s Molly’s. Molly is the bolthole. She makes him feel safe and protected, this tiny brilliant pathologist who matters so much she doesn’t even know. He protects John and Mrs Hudson and Irene and all of London, but this woman protects him. And I think the reason he had asked for her bedroom is he was testing her, like he had tested John in TEH. Does she still like him enough to accommodate his irrational, demanding requests?
(I also think he just likes to be in Molly’s bedroom to smell her pillow and deduce her bedthings but that is already with shipper goggles, so.) Surprise, surprise. She does.
And so quoting Benedict, it’s just so beautiful, their relationship is beautiful. I have read some articles, and even Louise had said people ship sherlolly because we see ourselves in Molly’s place and wanted to be kissing Sherlock or Benedict. But unrequited love is also beautiful and bittersweet, heartbreaking and good, and I would have no problem if that’s all they would give sherlolly. But that is not what I was seeing that they’re showing us. They let us see a potential. How much Sherlock needed Molly.
How much he actually loves Molly.
This is so good. My feels are all squishy now.

As I promised before the new Star Trek trading cards came out, I scanned in HQ all the new Khan images. :D♥♥♥
(And some others with Kirk looking lovely also.<3
The rest of the cards which I didn’t scan are either angles we already saw or cards that don’t primarily feature either Khan or Kirk. Eventually I’d like to scan everything but that’s potentially 220 images to scan and huuh… ^^; Maybe someday if enough people is interested.)
PLEASE DO NOT REPOST my scans. Please reblog this post.
I had to buy a lot of packs to get a full set, then I had to scan everything in HQ, and because they are tiny cards, that means that any dust particle or printing graininess is really visible in HQ, so after scanning I had to spend forever cleaning up everything as much as possible, then organizing it all and making this post, so it took money, time, and effort, simply because I want to share those with the fandom so that we can all enjoy the loveliness of the never-previously-released images of Khan.
So edits and everything are fine obviously, but if you want to use my scans please put a source link back to me. ^^
The images above are the front of the cards, for which we had seen previews (which I posted before).
Once I got my cards I discovered with delight that it’s not just the 110 card front images, the backs have smaller images also, some of which are new too! \*-*/
They are much smaller and thus a bit grainier (even more so), but I scanned in HQ also so that it could be more visible and a nicer size to post. :D
Some of these are of them in the middle of scenes that were visibly cut and never made it onto any of the deleted scenes released, so either a lot of fascinating footage was cut and thrown away (as it’s sadly often the case ;-; ), or there is a treasure trove of deleted scenes somewhere at Paramount! Let’s cross our fingers that it’s the second and that maybe someday we might get it on DVD! :D
One of the following ones was used as an alternate cover image for the Khan comic, at one point. :D
I REALLY really hope there’s a deleted scene somewhere that explains why in this version of the moment Kirk talks to Khan in medbay, Khan’s hair is in such disarray…? 8D~~~
Did Kirk accept the ‘offer’ to punch him again until his arm weakens? XD;;
Or did they make out wildly and Kirk was gripping Khan’s hair? XD<333
And now for something that had me melting the instant I discovered this card… Khan looking adorable immediately after removing his helmet after the space dive! :D
Kirk had epic helmet hair for a bit, but Khan was quick to fix his hair again as he always does. X3
It seems to be ingrained in him to try to avoid looking unkempt etc., perhaps an augment instinct to always look controlled. :D
Later on, Kirk seems to have fixed his own helmet hair too, and Scotty an him are intimidated
by Khan’s long time hair-dressing abilities. XD
The truth about why Jim decided to have him stunned…? The way Khan is so much better at taking care of his hair? XD j/k
And some different views of the “brawl by the bay” atop the garbage barge:
As usual when uploading something big, Tumblr downsized the images, so I uploaded it all separately, that way if you want to save the largest size, you can.
And since it’s at the end, you lovely people who read this post all the way through will be getting the actually full size images that the people who don’t read will be missing out on. XD lol

And because I can’t resist pointing it out, I’m trying so hard to hold in my pervy comments about how glorious Khan’s butt looks in this pic, sitting on that medbay bed. XD<3
And that thing on the bed, which Khan is sitting on… is it just a medbay bed sheet of sorts
or is it one of those paper cover things they put on medical beds when they examine you naked on them…? XD*is shot*
So many epic mind images now, whether it’s just from the lovely new pics, or also from the fic urges related to Khan on that medbay bed… XD lol
